The easy, fast and inexpensive transfer from Amsterdam Airport is to go to Amsterdam Central Station by train. Amsterdam Central Station is the central transport hub in Amsterdam. The station is located on an island between the Amsterdam/Old Centre and the IJ waterfront.

1. Train

There is a direct train from Amsterdam Airport to Amsterdam Central Station.

Operation: every 15 minutes and every day
Travel Time: approximately 17minutes
Ticket Rates: €4.50 (2nd class) or €7,43 (1st class)

Dutch Railways (NS) operates from Amsterdam Airport to Amsterdam Central Station for Amsterdam Cruise Port transfer.

How can you buy a train ticket?

You can purchase a train ticket from the yellow machines in the main hall. The machines are located in the central of the main hall. You can easily find them.

My tip:
1. The ticket machines accept international cards. It it is always better to get some cash in advance.
2. You must activate your ticket (a chip card) at one of the card readers near or at the top of the escalators, or next to the elevators. Otherwise, you will receive a penalty and need to pay a fine.
3. Do not buy a return ticket. A return ticket is only valid within the same day only.
4. Underneath the arrival’s main hall, you can reach the station via either escalators or elevators. Trains to Amsterdam usually leave from track 3.

2. Taxi

The quickest way to get from Amsterdam Airport to Passenger Terminal Amsterdam is to taxi which costs about €40.

III. Getting to City Centre from Amsterdam Cruise Port

How far is Amsterdam Cruise Port to City Centre?

1. Walk

You can walk to the Amsterdam Cruise Port. It takes about 15 minutes.

2. Tram 26

The tram stop is located in the north side of Amsterdam Central Station, at the city side, and at the far eastern end.

Operation: about every 5 minutes
Tram Ticket: you can purchase from the driver with an exact amount of money or purchase it in advance.

3. Taxi

If a 10-minute walk with luggage is not for you, take a taxi. The taxi rank is located at the riverside.
